Located between Popenguine and Joal, the small village of Ndayane charms visitors with its authenticity and well-preserved environment. Here, paddleboarding or kayaking takes place in a peaceful atmosphere, far from tourist beaches. The sea stretches wide, bordered by small cliffs and rocky areas that make the excursion varied and refreshing.
As you glide over the water, you’ll discover a unique panorama of the coastline: the cliffs of Popenguine to the north, the long beach stretching toward Joal-Fadiouth to the south, and the fishermen’s pirogues returning to Ndayane’s harbor. The activity is best enjoyed in the calm of the morning, when the light reflects off the rocks and fishermen pull in their nets.
The departure point is the main beach of Ndayane, where a certified instructor welcomes participants. After a short presentation of the equipment and safety instructions, the group heads out to sea. The excursion lasts about two hours and is adapted to the sea conditions. Depending on the tide and wind, the route may follow the coast toward Popenguine or head south toward Joal. Several stops can be made to observe the shoreline or take photos. The return is calm and relaxing, carried by the coastal currents.
Nearby, you can visit the Popenguine Nature Reserve, known for its coastal trails, or the village of Toubab Dialaw with its red cliffs. These attractions can easily be combined for a full day of sport and discovery.
