Description of this activity

This canoe ride is one of the most beautiful experiences along the Petite-Côte. The Somone Lagoon, designated as a community nature reserve, is home to a rich variety of wildlife and incredibly peaceful scenery.

The excursion takes place aboard a traditional canoe, either gently motorized or paddled, to preserve the tranquility of the mangrove. The local guide explains the importance of this ecosystem, the species that live there, and the traditions of the region’s fishermen. The ride lasts about two hours, alternating between slow navigation through the mangrove and crossing the lagoon. Stops are included for birdwatching or taking photos.

Along the way, you’ll spot pelicans, egrets, herons, and kingfishers gliding between the mangrove trees. At the mouth of the lagoon, the waters open to the sea, offering a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean.

After the ride, you can visit the bird reserve, enjoy lunch at a stilt restaurant, or relax on the main beach of Somone.
