The guided tour of the Madeleine Islands, off the coast of Dakar, offers an immersion in the world’s smallest national park, famous for its cliffs, rare vegetation, and its colony of red-billed tropicbirds. The organization provides a pirogue crossing from the West Corniche (Soumbédioune) and a guided discovery of the park. The visit is limited to 4 hours on the island, open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The on-site team provides life jackets and strongly advises wearing closed shoes to walk on the rocks.
The guided tour includes visits to major natural highlights: the steep cliffs, archaeological remains, bird colonies (cormorants, tropicbirds), baobabs, and secret beaches. You will receive explanations about the local fauna, flora, and the history of the site. Depending on the time of day, you can enjoy the atmosphere, observe bird nesting, or relax in the shade.
Points of interest to discover around the visit:
- The traditional Lébou neighborhood of Soumbédioune, its craft market, and its fishing port.
- The West Corniche and its panoramic views of the peninsula.
- The beaches of Dakar and surrounding monuments.
These suggestions allow for a full day’s itinerary combining nature, culture, and relaxation.
