The mountain bike / e-bike ride around the lagoon and in the Bandia Reserve is a unique adventure combining sport and exploration of Senegal’s wild nature. Located 65 kilometers from Dakar and 15 kilometers from Saly, Bandia is home to exceptional biodiversity across more than 3,500 hectares. From the very first pedal strokes, the scenery changes: laterite trails winding through bushes, clusters of giant baobabs, and lagoon wetlands frequented by hundreds of birds – pelicans, flamingos, herons, and egrets create a vibrant atmosphere.
Accompanied by a local guide, the route alternates wildlife observation, discovery of historical sites (Serer pyramids, tombs within millennial baobabs), educational stops, and photo sessions up close with giraffes, zebras, rhinos, or antelopes. Thanks to the e-bike, the experience remains accessible to all, even on hilly or sandy sections. Breaks are scheduled to enjoy a snack, learn about Peul traditions, watch the playful green monkeys, or simply soak in the silence of the savannah.
The circuit can be adjusted according to the group’s level and interests, from a simple lagoon loop to extended rides toward the park’s edges, sometimes reaching Somone and its mangroves.
