Description of this activity

Experience a unique moment of expression in the heart of Guéréo through an African dance class inspired by Senegalese traditions. Set in a natural environment among mangroves, hills, and the sea breeze, this workshop immerses you in a lively dance grounded in the earth and deeply connected to rhythm. Accessible to all, it combines energy, freedom of movement, and cultural discovery in a calming and immersive atmosphere.

The session begins with a gradual warm-up to prepare the body: hip mobility, core work, leg activation, grounding, and rhythmic breathing. You then explore various movements drawn from West African dances: • expressive gestures inspired by Wolof dances, • traditional steps adapted from sabar in a danced version, • Mandingue sequences, • fluid movements inspired by dances from rural regions.

Each step is explained, repeated slowly, and then integrated into a simple choreographic sequence built around a traditional rhythm or an Afro-contemporary piece. The surrounding nature adds a unique dimension: the wind, sand, and light create an atmosphere conducive to free expression and connection to the rhythm.

The session often concludes with a collective dance or a souvenir video, a powerful moment combining energy, smiles, and sharing.
