Description of this activity

Nestled between sea and hills, Popenguine is a gem of the Petite-Côte, famous for its community nature reserve. This hike, guided by an environmental guide, offers a full immersion in the wild coastal landscapes and biodiversity of this protected area.

The route starts in the village of Popenguine before joining the trails of the reserve. The walk successively crosses the shrub savannah, the rocky hills overlooking the ocean, and the red cliff that towers above the beach. The guide shares knowledge about the local fauna and flora: baobabs, aloes, migratory birds, jackals, and red monkeys sometimes seen at a distance.

The views of the Atlantic are spectacular, especially from the Popenguine cliff where the contrast between the blue sea and ochre earth is striking. A picnic or snack break is planned halfway through, before a relaxed return along the seashore.

It’s a perfect activity for nature lovers, photographers, and hikers, just 1h30 from Dakar.
