Laser tag in Dakar is played on the Corniche Ouest, in a dimly lit maze, in teams or every player for themselves. An electronic vest and a laser gun are provided, specialist game hosts run games of about 20 minutes, and the activity is open from age 7.
A game of laser tag, step by step
You start with a briefing on the rules and safety, then each player puts on an electronic vest and is handed a laser gun. The aim is to hit your opponents’ sensors to score as many points as possible, moving through a dark maze where music, coloured lights and smoke effects set the tempo. Games last about 20 minutes, between 20 and 30 minutes depending on the option, and are played solo, in pairs or in teams depending on the number of participants: from 2 to 20 players depending on the time slot.
Equipment is included, with supervision by specialist game hosts. The price is per game. Wear light clothing and closed shoes, because you run, duck and hide. You do not need to be sporty: it is above all a game of skill, coordination and strategy, which appeals to adults as much as to children.
The venue also has a relaxation area and a snack bar, handy for extending the outing after the last game.
If you live in Dakar, it is an outing you can decide on the day before: a birthday, a team-building event, a Saturday afternoon with the children, without leaving the capital. If you are visiting with family, it is a safe bet on days when the beach or the heat does not appeal.
On the Corniche Ouest
The activity is located on the Corniche Ouest of Dakar, on the ocean side, in the capital itself: no road trip to plan, so you can slot it between two other outings. The Dakar Region is best discovered through its neighbourhoods, its ocean and its tempo, and this side of the peninsula suits that well.
After a game, you can have a drink facing the sea on the Corniche, or take a closer look at the African Renaissance Monument, a few minutes away.
Other outings with family or friends
To keep going in the same leisure spirit, the amusement and game parks and the family days offer other ideas, and karting and motorised leisure suit a group that wants to string activities together.
