Free cancellation up to a minimum of 72 h before the activity. After that, the deposit is non-refundable. The balance is paid on site to the provider. Deadlines in Senegal local time.

Description of this activity

Immerse yourself in a creative and colorful workshop in the heart of Dakar and discover the art of handcrafted mosaics. Guided by a local artisan, you’ll learn how to transform fragments of ceramic, glass, or natural materials into a unique piece of art. Between Plateau, Médina, and the Corniche Ouest, Dakar’s cultural atmosphere adds an inspiring dimension to this beginner-friendly experience.

The workshop begins with an introduction to materials and techniques:
• pieces of colored glass, earthenware, tile fragments, shells,
• traditional or geometric patterns,
• base supports (wood, tile, frame),
• essential tools for cutting, adjusting, and assembling the pieces.

You then watch a demonstration of the basic techniques:
• drawing and planning your composition,
• cutting and shaping the tesserae,
• progressively gluing the elements to form the design,
• applying grout to set the mosaic,
• finishing and cleaning.

Next comes your personal creation:
Each participant imagines a simple design — sun, stylized mask, fish, geometric pattern — and assembles their colored pieces step by step.
The guidance provided helps everyone progress at their own pace, in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

At the end of the workshop, you leave with your own handcrafted mosaic, a colorful keepsake made with your own hands.
