The zip line in Bandia is 315 metres long and starts more than 24 metres up, landing on the ground in a setting of baobabs and savannah. Access to the course and supervision are included, and the activity is open from age 10.
Flying over the baobabs
The zip line is in an adventure park right next to the reserve, between Dakar and Saly. It is 315 metres long and starts from more than 24 metres up: the descent gives you a view over the savannah, with the feeling of flying over giant trees and, sometimes, a glimpse of zebras or giraffes grazing freely nearby.
The activity is run by qualified professionals on a secured course. It is open from age 10, with an adult for minors. The equipment (harness, helmet, safety system) is provided, and a drink is offered with entry. The park also offers other activities: adventure courses for young and old, climbing, water leisure, team-building workshops and events for all ages.
Bring closed shoes, comfortable clothes and sun cream. Booking is advised, especially at weekends and during school holidays.
If you live in Dakar, this is an adrenaline outing that fits neatly into a day at the reserve, 65 km from Dakar. If you are staying in Saly, it is the shortest of the region’s big-thrill activities: you can do it in a free slot without committing a whole day.
Bandia Reserve, between Dakar and Saly
Bandia Reserve is 15 kilometres from Saly and about 65 km from Dakar. Open to the public since 1990, it covers 3,500 hectares of wooded savannah, and it is the most visited and most accessible wildlife reserve in the country. The Bandia page brings together the activities on offer there, and the Petite Côte gives the wider setting, in the Thiès region.
Combining it with the zip line
For a full day, you can pair the zip line with a safari: the safaris and the wildlife reserves and animal parks gather the wildlife outings. To stay in adventure mode, adventure and outdoors offers other activities, and the family days round off the week with the children.
