The private beach day in Somone is spent between sea and lagoon, in one of the calmest corners of the Petite Côte: sun lounger reserved until you leave, lunch included, discreet entertainment. Less busy than the neighbouring beaches, it is lulled by the birds of the nature reserve.
A beach that lives to the rhythm of the lagoon
Somone stands out for its peaceful atmosphere, between lagoon, mangroves and golden sand. As soon as you arrive, you are settled on a reserved sun lounger, with a clean towel and a shaded or sunny spot of your choice.
Lunch is served around midday, usually under a thatched shelter or at your lounger: grilled fish, local dishes, salads, light dishes or vegetarian options depending on the day. In the afternoon, the entertainment stays light and occasional (lounge music, light dancing), and you can extend your walk towards the nature reserve or the wild area of the lagoon.
Good to know before you come
The sun lounger stays reserved all day. Additional drinks are not included. The water is often particularly calm in the morning and can be slightly rougher in the afternoon; the tide can also reduce the beach area at peak hours. Some private beaches offer showers, changing rooms or lockers. Remember sun cream, sun protection and a spare swimsuit. Booking is recommended at weekends and in high season.
If you live in Dakar, it is a weekend day where you truly disconnect, without the noise of the resorts. If you are visiting, it is the most natural beach on the Petite Côte, to combine with the lagoon.
Meals are often taken under a thatched shelter, in the shade, and the loungers stay in your place from morning until you leave: you can go for a swim, read or walk towards the lagoon without moving anything. At weekends and in high season, the beach fills up a little more, and booking ahead guarantees the slot you want.
Somone on the Petite Côte
Somone, on the Petite Côte, revolves around its lagoon, classified as a community nature reserve. People come here for the calm rather than for the entertainment.
Around Somone
The Somone lagoon is explored on a pirogue ride or on a birdwatching outing. For sunset, Saly and Ngaparou are nearby, with seafront restaurants.
