Description of this activity

The private surf lesson in Ndayane, about 50 km south of Dakar, puts a private coach at your disposal for 1 h 30 or 2 hours, on a peaceful beach on the Petite Côte. Equipment and insurance are included, times adapt to the tide, and children are accepted from age 5.

One coach, one peaceful beach

Ndayane is one of the best-preserved shores of the Petite Côte. The beach stretches along a peaceful coastline, ideal for discovering the technical basics without stress. The instructor structures the session according to your experience: assessing your abilities, choosing the most favourable sandbank, exercises away from the crowd, faster progress thanks to total attention. A session ends with technical advice, corrections and analysis, then a debrief with a village snack or an optional walk.

Sessions are by booking and times are adapted to the tide. A session is possible early in the morning or at sunset, to enjoy the calm of the site. The option suits everyone, from age 5, with the possibility of advanced coaching for more experienced surfers, as well as family and sport options.

After the session, lunch is possible in the village.

If you live in Dakar, the private lesson is a good format for a weekend 50 km away: one coach, a quiet beach, half a morning. If you are visiting, it is the most direct way to find out where you stand in the water, without sharing the coach with a group.

Ndayane, a lébou village

Ndayane is a lébou village (the lébou are the traditional fishing people of the Dakar coast) on the Petite Côte, in the commune of Popenguine-Ndayane, near Cap de Naze. It has shifted from an agricultural economy to fishing, and lies close to a future multipurpose port. It remains away from the main tourist flows.

Around the lesson

The neighbouring Popenguine Reserve and Toubab Dialaw can be visited in the same day. To change activity, paddle and kayak are also practised on this coast, and group lessons and surf courses offer other formats.
