The private surf lesson in Toubab Dialaw puts a private coach at your disposal for 1 h 30, in an artists’ village set against red cliffs, about 40 km south of Dakar. Equipment and insurance are included, and the session can take place at sunrise or at the end of the day.
A tailor-made session beneath the cliffs
The private lesson is a tailor-made experience, adapted to each profile. The instructor devotes themselves entirely to the student: analysis of positioning, personal technical advice, targeted exercises on catching a wave and immediate correction of movements. Depending on the weather conditions and the student’s level, the coach chooses the best spot. The session ends with a debrief and tips for progressing on your own.
The equipment is provided (suitable board, wetsuit in season, insurance), with a private coach. Lessons are possible at sunrise to enjoy the soft light, or at the end of the day for a more intimate exchange. Booking in advance is recommended. The option suits supervised children, adult beginners and surfers who want to refine their technique or prepare for a sporting stay. A photo service and family options are offered, and sessions in English or another language are possible depending on the instructor.
The setting adds to the session: palm trees, a colourful market, meetings with the village’s artists and pauses facing the ocean. Creative workshops, in music, dance or painting, can round out the experience, with packages that combine surfing and cultural events. The Petite Côte is good for surfing from October to May, but the beach is accessible all year.
If you live in Dakar, it is the weekend format: one coach, one slot, a village to visit afterwards. If you are visiting, it is a way to take stock of your level in one session.
Toubab Dialaw, an artists’ village
Toubab Dialaw, a lébou village (the lébou are the traditional fishing people of the Dakar coast) in the commune of Yenne, stretches between sea, coloured rocks and dense vegetation, about 40 km south of Dakar. It is known for its red cliffs and its creative atmosphere, and is part of the Dakar region.
To extend your day
After the session, you can look at craft activities in the region, take an African dance class, or walk to the Popenguine Reserve. To surf in a group, surf lessons and courses offer other formats.
