Kung-Fu, Qi Gong and Tai Chi in Dakar: three Chinese internal arts, taught in one-hour classes by a teacher, at any age and with no level required. You can try a single session or commit to a named pack of 8 sessions to progress over time.
Three internal arts, three ways of moving
Each class combines a warm-up, sequences and breathing work. Kung-Fu combines self-defence and muscle tone. Qi Gong focuses on breath and energy. Tai Chi favours slow movements and balance. All three are good ways to keep up flexibility and concentration and to manage everyday stress better.
The teacher is a master and trainer in Kung-Fu, Tai Chi and Shaolin disciplines. He works with individuals and companies alike, at every level.
By the session, in a pack, or another discipline
A session lasts one hour and is priced per person. For Kung-Fu, Qi Gong and Tai Chi, a pack of 8 sessions is available: it is named, so it cannot be shared. By the session you can also try boxing, Angola capoeira and self-defence, or choose a discovery session from yoga, tai chi, zen or self-defence: this is the simplest way in to compare several disciplines before committing. Loose, flexible clothing is recommended.
If you live in Dakar, the pack lets you settle into a routine. If you are visiting, a single session or the discovery session is enough to try things out, with no commitment.
Where to practise in Dakar
The classes take place in Dakar. The Dakar region offers enough scenery to follow a session with a walk: the African Renaissance Monument, the corniche or Ngor Island, reached by pirogue from the village of Ngor.
Extending your time around Dakar
In the same spirit of relaxation, yoga and meditation or sports coaching and fitness combine well with a martial arts class. If you have a day to spare, Gorée Island or Lake Retba (the Pink Lake) make easy outings from the capital.
