The sewing training in Yeumbeul, in the Dakar suburbs, is followed in a training workshop, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm: a classic six-month course or an accelerated three-month option. The minimum age is 12, and the workshop equipment is provided.
Two courses, one training rhythm
This is not an afternoon workshop but real training: five days a week, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm. Two courses are offered, both at a flat rate: the classic six-month course, and the accelerated three-month training. You choose according to your time and your goal: training over the long term, or learning fast.
All the workshop equipment is provided. For sewing, however, supplies (fabric, haberdashery) are the student’s responsibility: this is an expense to plan for on top of the flat rate. The minimum age is 12.
The training workshop lets you learn sewing in a training setting rather than as an introduction. At five days a week, the accelerated three-month option is full-time training; the classic six-month course doubles the length. The minimum age of twelve also opens the training to teenagers who want to start early.
If you live in the Dakar suburbs, it is training you can arrange close to home, with a regular rhythm. If you are just passing through, this format is too long: you would do better to look at the one-day or few-day introductory workshops elsewhere.
Yeumbeul, in the Dakar suburbs
Yeumbeul is part of the suburbs of Dakar. The training workshop is located in this district. To get your bearings, the Dakar region brings together the peninsula, the central districts and the suburbs.
To complement the training
For a first taste, dyeing, batik and textile workshops let you discover fabrics in a few days, and craft and skills workshops give other ideas. For sightseeing, Gorée Island and the emblematic markets of Dakar are classic outings where you can find fabrics and haberdashery.
