This treetop adventure and Somone lagoon day leaves Dakar at 9 a.m. for a full outing on the Petite Côte: a course in the baobabs with zip lines and monkey bridges, then a relaxing time by the lagoon. Return transport, course access and a guide are included.
A day in two parts
The departure is as a group, from Cicès, in Dakar, at 9 a.m. The morning is devoted to the treetop course: a route among the baobabs, zip lines and monkey bridges, with course access included. Closed shoes are compulsory for the course. The afternoon is devoted to the Somone lagoon, with some relaxing time by the water.
Included are: return transport from Dakar, course access and the guide. Not included are: the boat ride on the lagoon, the mangrove tax, lunch and drinks. The lagoon fees (boat ride, mangrove tax) are payable on site, on top of the price, with the amounts shown in the dedicated section of the page. The price is per person; a child price exists for ages 3 to 15.
If you live in Dakar, it is a full day that spares you the driving: the road is taken care of, and you are back in the evening. If you are passing through Dakar, it is a way to see the Petite Côte without arranging your own transport, with an active course and a calm moment on the programme.
The Somone and its lagoon
Somone lies on the Petite Côte, about ten kilometres from Saly. The village is built at the edge of an estuary where the sea and the river meet, calmer and more intimate than its seaside neighbours, with guesthouses on stilts and restaurants right at the water’s edge. The Somone lagoon page tells the story of the mangrove and its birds.
To extend the outing
The mangrove is best discovered by pirogue, and bird watching is an activity in its own right there. For another nature day, the Bandia Reserve is nearby, and other outdoor adventure outings are possible.
