The beginner jet ski lesson takes place on the Petite Côte, with a qualified instructor, to learn the basics of riding safely while enjoying being out on the water. Open to beginners, in sessions from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
Learning to ride a jet ski
The session is supervised by an instructor holding a BPJEPS, a French state diploma in sports instruction. It is for beginners: you learn the basics of riding, safely, before enjoying the pleasure of being out on the water. The supervision is what sets a lesson apart from a simple hire: the instructor explains, corrects and accompanies. The short lengths suit first contacts, those of half an hour or an hour suit people who want to settle their technique. The lesson aims at precisely that: the basics of riding, learned safely.
Four lengths are on offer, priced per person: 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 1 hour. You choose according to your wishes and the time you have: 15 minutes for a first contact, 1 hour to settle your moves and enjoy the coastline.
Saly, Mbour and the Petite Côte
The lesson is tied to the Petite Côte, around Saly and Mbour. Saly is about 80 km south of Dakar, a resort born in the 1980s around a sheltered coast; Mbour, 5 km away, is the second fishing port in Senegal, with its pirogues and its markets. Between the two, the sea is the playground for water activities. If you live in Dakar, it is a lesson to treat yourself to during a weekend by the sea; if you are staying in the resort, a way to learn to ride before venturing on a longer ride.
Going further
After the lesson, you can move on to a jet ski ride, like the one offered on the jet ski page, or change your glide with towed sports. For a calmer outing, the boat excursions and paddle offer another pace. Bandia Reserve rounds off a day on the coast.
