A transparent kayak in Dakar changes how you see the ocean: you paddle watching the water slide by beneath you, and a drone and a photo shoot keep images of the outing. There are three packs, depending on the number of participants: Mono for one person (45 minutes), Duo for two (1 hour) and Trio for three (1 h 30).
Mono, Duo or Trio: choosing your pack
The three options rest on the same idea, a transparent kayak outing with a drone and a photo session. They differ only in the number of participants and the length. The Mono pack is for one person on their own, for 45 minutes. The Duo pack takes two people for 1 hour: a couple, two friends, a parent and their grown-up child. The Trio pack brings three people together for 1 h 30, the longest outing in the range, designed for a small group or a family.
The drone and the photo shoot are what set this pack apart from a simple kayak hire: the outing is also about bringing back images, seen from above as well as from water level.
Weather, instructor, preparation
The outing may be suspended if the weather is unfavourable: on the ocean, as for flying a drone, conditions decide. If you prefer to have someone with you on the paddle, an instructor can be added on request, for an extra charge.
If you live in Dakar, this is a way to see your city from an angle you do not usually get: not from the Corniche or the sand, but from the water, to share as a pair or a trio over a weekend. If you are visiting, it is a short outing that fits into half a day without upsetting your schedule, and leaves you with pictures to take home.
Dakar seen from the ocean
You do not visit Dakar by ticking off a list of monuments: you take it by its neighbourhoods, its ocean and its tempo. The colonial Plateau, the working-class Médina, the Corniche and the pirogues of Soumbedioune sketch out a city turned toward the sea, and this outing takes that as its starting point. To place the capital before you set off, the Dakar page brings together its neighbourhoods and activities, and the Dakar region widens the view to the whole peninsula.
Extending the outing
Once ashore, you can stay on the water with a boat trip, push on to Ngor Island and its beaches, or see the seabed up close with diving and snorkelling. The country’s other paddle and kayak outings show other stretches of water.
