Kneeboarding in Saly means riding on your knees on a board towed by a boat or a jet ski, on the Petite Côte. The ride lasts 15 minutes, a qualified instructor supervises, the board and safety equipment are provided, and beginners are welcome.
Kneeboarding, a ride on your knees
Kneeboarding is a water sport in which you kneel on a board towed by a boat or a jet ski. The kneeling position makes it easy to pick up, while keeping the adrenaline of speed on the water. Beginners find their place in it, and the more sporty can look for more thrills by taking the board out again from one ride to the next.
The ride is supervised by an experienced instructor with a BPJEPS qualification (the French state diploma for sports instructors), who ensures safety and helps you master the riding techniques. The kneeboard and the safety equipment are provided. The session lasts 15 minutes and the price is per person: each participant therefore counts as one session.
It is an activity to share, ideal for families, groups of friends or anyone who enjoys thrills on the water. If you live in Dakar, it is an easy addition to a beach day in Saly, without committing long hours; if you are visiting, it is a way to vary the resort’s activities beyond swimming.
Saly and the Petite Côte
Saly is the country’s first seaside resort, about 80 km south of Dakar, on a sheltered coast that was developed from the 1980s around a former fishing village. The sea is a natural playground, and kneeboarding adds to the resort’s other water sports. The Saly page covers a stay there in detail, and the Petite Côte gives the wider setting of the coastline.
Linking up with other water sports
Kneeboarding combines well with the resort’s other thrills: towed water sports bring together the rides behind a boat, and jet skiing lets you take to the sea again at the handlebars. For a calmer day, the Somone lagoon and the Bandia Reserve are close by.
