Description of this activity

An introductory scuba dive is the best way to discover the underwater world with no prior experience. In Dakar, the sites around Ngor and the Plateau offer calm areas that are perfect for a first immersion. The waters are rich in marine life: small tropical fish, coral formations, volcanic rocks, and sometimes even shallow shipwrecks accessible at low depth.

The activity takes place in a safe environment under the supervision of experienced instructors. Upon arrival at the selected site, participants receive an introduction to the equipment and safety briefing. A short surface trial precedes the descent. The instructor remains by your side throughout the dive to ensure comfort and safety. The total duration of the activity is about two hours, including preparation and diving time. After a few minutes of instruction on the equipment and basic gestures, entry into the water is smooth — often from the boat or directly from the beach. The dive allows you to descend to around 6 meters, giving you time to experience weightlessness and admire the beauty of Senegal’s underwater world.

Nearby, participants can extend their day by visiting the village of Ngor, Ngor Island, or the Museum of the Sea located along the western Corniche.
