The agroecological farm near Mbour can be visited in a half day, with or without lunch, or over a full day. You discover crops, medicinal plants and a natural care laboratory, on the Petite Côte, a few kilometres from the beach.
What you visit
An agroecological farm on the Petite Côte brings together three things: crops, medicinal plants and a laboratory where natural care products are prepared. The interest lies in how these three elements answer one another: what grows in the fields feeds what is prepared in the laboratory. It is a visit for those interested in farming without chemicals and in plant knowledge, more than a simple walk.
The full day goes further than the half day: it leaves time to watch the work in the fields, to understand how plants are used and to taste what the land gives. Bring closed shoes, a hat and water, as the visit takes place outdoors.
Four options, priced per person
Two options are devoted to the farm visit, as a half day of 4 hours: without lunch, or with lunch. Two others offer an 8-hour day, with two levels of service. All are priced per person. The choice depends on the time you have, whether you want to have lunch on site and your interest in the plants and natural care side.
Mbour and its surroundings
Mbour is 80 km south of Dakar, the country’s second fishing port, in the Thiès region; the farm is nearby, on the Petite Côte. If you live in Senegal, it is a half day that makes a change from restaurants and beaches: you learn what grows in the region and how it is used; if you are visiting, a visit that adds substance to a beach stay.
To extend your trip
Another outing combines the laboratory visit with a holistic treatment, in the energy and holistic treatments category. For other rural visits, the traditional sites and villages bring together outings in the same spirit, and the Senegalese cooking classes extend the meal part.
