Archery in Saly is a supervised introduction, for young and old, on the Petite Côte. The session lasts 1 hour, the equipment is provided, and you choose between two options: 10 arrows or 20 arrows, priced per person.
One introduction, two options
Two options are offered, both lasting an hour and priced per person: archery with 10 arrows, or with 20 arrows. The equipment is provided, and the introduction is supervised: you learn the basic movements before shooting, then aim at the target at your own pace. The activity is for everyone, young and old.
Archery is an exercise in concentration more than strength: posture, breathing and consistency count for more than power. It is practised in a group, with family or friends, each person shooting in turn, which leaves time to correct yourself, encourage each other and compare scores without pressure. It is a way to enjoy yourself without tiring, and fits easily between two swims.
Bring comfortable clothing, closed shoes and something to protect you from the sun.
If you live in Dakar and are spending a weekend in Saly, it is a calm activity to slot between the beach and lunch, good for children who do not need to run around. If you are staying at the resort, it is an idea for an outing with others, which needs no experience.
Saly, on the Petite Côte
Saly-Portudal is the country’s first seaside resort. Created in the 1980s on a former Serer fishing village, around a sheltered coast and the port of Portudal, it lies 80 km south of Dakar, on the Petite Côte. It has more than 10,000 beds spread across hotels, private residences and villas. The Saly page brings together the resort’s activities, and the Saly guide tells its history.
To extend your time in Saly
To vary the activities, a horse or camel ride takes you along the beach, jet skiing offers speed on the water, and the family days suggest other ideas for children. The Bandia Reserve is the region’s big nature outing.
