Painting lessons in Saly are a one or two-hour session with artists from the Petite Côte, a creative break during your stay. The price is per person, and you choose the length to suit you.
One hour or two, with a brush
Two options exist: a one-hour painting lesson and a two-hour painting lesson, both priced per person. The one-hour session suits trying it out, the two-hour session leaves time to make progress on a piece. The lessons are given by artists from the Petite Côte, which gives the workshop a local dimension rather than a standard class: the region, with its beaches, lagoons, markets and fishing villages, offers plenty to inspire a brush.
The activity is presented as a creative break during a stay in Saly: a pause in a beach holiday.
If you live in Dakar and are in Saly for the weekend, it is a calm activity to slot into a programme full of beach time. If you are on holiday, it is a way to bring back something other than a photo.
Saly, the resort of the Petite Côte
Saly is about 80 km south of Dakar, on the Petite Côte, in the Thiès region. A resort born in the 1980s from a project by the State and the private sector, built around a sheltered coast and the historic port of Portudal, on the site of an old Serer fishing village, it draws thousands of visitors every year looking for sun, turquoise sea and Senegalese hospitality, which is why cultural activities are also offered here to vary the days. The Petite Côte unrolls about a hundred kilometres of coastline, from Bargny to Joal-Fadiouth, with its lagoons, markets and fishing villages.
Things to do around Saly
To extend the creative side, workshops in craft and skills and dyeing, batik and textile offer other skills to learn. For outings, the Bandia Reserve, the Somone lagoon and Joal-Fadiouth are the classics of the Petite Côte.
