Quad biking in the Sine-Saloum shows you the delta in a different way from the pirogue: on dry land, among mangroves, salt flats and villages. Three options, from 2 hours to a full day, two of them at Ndangane at a price per quad for one or two people.
The delta by land
The Sine-Saloum is first known for its waterways, the bolongs (tidal creeks), and for its birds. Quad biking adds a point of view: you ride between mangroves, tannes (flat, salty expanses) and villages. Three packages are on offer: a 2-hour ride, a half-day at Ndangane and a full day at Ndangane, the last two at a price per quad for one or two people.
The three packages suit three different wishes. The 2-hour ride works as a first approach for anyone who wants a taste of the terrain without giving up the whole morning. The half-day at Ndangane lets you go further, and the full day gives you time to stop in the villages. Because the price is calculated per quad for one or two people, a couple or two friends can share a single vehicle, and the group grows in number of quads rather than in number of travellers.
The Sine-Saloum, away from the main roads
The Sine-Saloum is Senegal at a slower pace: a maze of salt water and mangrove where people come for the birds, the silence and the sunsets. If you live here, the ride adds a further half-day to a weekend in the delta beyond the pirogue alone; if you are visiting, it widens a stay that is often centred on the water and gives an overview of the region from the land side. The Ndangane page presents the village, which is the starting point for two of the packages. Palmarin and Simal are other landmarks on the delta coast.
Around the ride
For a change of element, a pirogue ride in the bolongs remains the natural complement. Bird watching has its best grounds here, and the page on the Sine-Saloum Delta helps you prepare a longer stay.
