A towed tube ride in Saly means settling onto an inflatable tube pulled by a boat, from the main beach, for 15 minutes of gliding and laughter. Instructor, equipment and life jacket are provided, the activity is open from age 8, and the tube comes in a single version or with 2, 4 or 6 seats.
A ride you share
The towed tube is one of the most popular activities on Saly’s lively coast. After a quick briefing on the beach, you settle onto the inflatable tube, alone or as a pair, while a boat picks up speed to send you bouncing over the water. The instructor adapts the pace to your wishes: gentle speed for a relaxed ride or a livelier pace for thrill-seekers. You may fall in the water, but the boat stops immediately.
The options last 15 minutes and come in different tube sizes: single, 2, 4 or 6 seats, or priced per person. The equipment, the instructor and the safety life jacket are included. Bring swimwear, a towel, glasses with a strap and sunscreen. Morning and late afternoon are when the sea is calmest.
The activity is open from age 8. It is an outing for couples, friends or families who want to spice up their beach day. If you live in Dakar, it is a short format that slips in between two swims on a weekend. If you are visiting the resort, it is the easiest water activity to share with several people, with no technique to learn.
Saly, the main beach
Saly is the country’s first seaside resort, about 80 km south of Dakar, on the Petite Côte. From the tube you see the shoreline, the seafront hotels and the colourful pirogues that animate the bay.
Linking up with other water sports
Between two sessions, you can relax on the sand or combine the tube with jet skiing or paddling. The other towed water sports are also available at the resort. After the activity, a beach lunch, the craft village or the harbour at nearby Mbour give a glimpse of local life.
