Description of this activity

A 4×4 excursion in Casamance shows you the region from its tracks: bush, rice fields, forests, mangrove, villages. A local guide drives a private group, for a half day or a full day, at a group rate that goes down as the group gets bigger.

A private outing, half day or full day

The route is organised for your group alone, with experienced local guides who offer safe, private excursions: visits to mangroves, islands and fishing villages. Depending on the option, the route can include bush tracks, villages, rice fields, forests, mangrove areas and viewpoints. The comfort of the off-road vehicle lets you reach tracks that are hard to get to, with photo stops and encounters with local life.

There are two options: the half day (about 4 hours) and the full day (about 8 hours). The price is per group, and it falls with the size of the group: the indicative minimum is about 4 people for the half day and 2 people for the full day. Above 12 people, please contact us.

Bring comfortable clothes, closed shoes, a cap or hat, water and sun cream. The weather matters: some tracks are harder to reach when it rains, and the route can then be adapted.

The option suits families with children, as the 4×4 lets you see the region without effort. If you live in Senegal, it is a way to see Casamance other than from the road or the beach; if you are visiting, it is a first geographical reading of the region, which helps you choose where to come back to.

Casamance, a different Senegal

Casamance stretches between the Gambia to the north and Guinea-Bissau to the south, far from the dry main roads of the rest of the country. Green, humid and slow, it is made of rice fields, gallery forests, bolongs (tidal creeks) that wind between the mangroves, and villages. That is exactly what the 4×4 can link in a single day, where one road alone would not be enough.

Sites to link along the way

The route can be combined with nearby stops: the island of Carabane, the village of Énampore, Egueye island or Mlomp. To continue in another way, a pirogue ride or a guided hike on foot lets you slow the pace.
