Bike hire in Cap Skirring lets you explore the Casamance coast at your own pace, on a standard bicycle or an e-bike, by the half day. The price is per unit, that is, per bike hired, and booking in advance is advised.
Two bikes, one half day
Two options are offered, both by the half day (about 4 hours) and priced per bike:
- The bicycle: the simple option, to pedal at your own measure.
- The e-bike: to go further or for longer without tiring.
Booking in advance is advised.
The unit price is calculated per bike hired, not per person: two travellers who each take a bike pay for two hires. The e-bike eases the effort on longer rides or in the heat. If you live in Casamance or are staying a while, a bike is a simple way to enjoy the coast without depending on a vehicle. If you are visiting, it changes a beach stay: you no longer settle for the hotel and the beach, you set off to explore at your own pace, with stops wherever you like. Bring water, sun cream and a hat, as for any outdoor outing under the Casamance sun.
Cap Skirring, more than a beach
You will be sold Cap Skirring as a beach: white sand, coconut palms, warm sea. That is true, but reducing the Cap to its beach means missing the essential. Cap Skirring lies in Casamance, a green and humid region made of rice fields, bolongs (tidal creeks) between the mangroves, and villages. The bike is a way to read it at low speed: the beach, of course, but also what surrounds it, at the pace you choose.
Other outings in Cap Skirring
For variety, a guided hike or an outdoor adventure outing slows the pace in another way. In the region, Oussouye, Elinkine and the island of Carabane each have their own page, to help you plan other outings. If you arrive by plane, plan ahead with the Cap Skirring and Ziguinchor airport page.
