Quad biking at Ngaparou takes you in a half day through the baobab forest to a Fulani village, or to Guéréo beach and the lagoon. The quad and the guide are included, and the price is per quad, for one or two people, with departure from Saly.
Two routes, one machine
The outing follows one of two routes, as you choose: the baobab forest and a Fulani village, or Guéréo beach and the lagoon. They are two very different landscapes: one inland, among baobabs and hamlets, the other on the coast. You ride a quad, with a guide riding ahead.
The quad and the guide are included; drinks are at your own expense. The price is per quad, whether there are one or two people on it: two options exist, one for one person and one for two people, of 4 hours each. Sharing a quad between two therefore means splitting the price of the vehicle.
Departure and practical points
Departure is from Saly. Bring clothes that can take dust, goggles and water, as for any quad outing. In the Fulani village, follow the guide to respect the life of the place.
Ngaparou, from forest to lagoon
Ngaparou is south of Saly and the Somone, on a Petite Côte that keeps its fishermen, its craft markets and its baobabs. Saly is the departure point, and the Somone lagoon is the area’s great stretch of water. If you live in Senegal, it is an active half day a few kilometres from the beach, with a departure from Saly that spares you the Dakar road; if you are visiting the coast, a way to add some hinterland to a beach stay. Ngaparou, south of Saly, embodies the Petite Côte away from the busy resorts: fishermen, colourful pirogues, craft markets, village festivals, in the shade of baobabs.
To extend your trip
Other outings are in the quad and buggy category, and outdoor adventure offers other field activities. For a calmer look at the same area, the traditional sites and villages bring together village visits.
