Lions at Bandia ranch is a full day devoted to one of the big cats people dream of seeing up close, in an animal park near the Petite Côte. Return transport and a guide are included, with pick-up at your door from Saly, Somone or Ngaparou.
A day to get close to the lions
The outing is designed as a full day, from the moment you leave your accommodation until you are back. The guide and the return transport are included in the package: you have no vehicle to find and no route to plan. The programme centres on meeting the lions, which makes it different from a classic safari, where you look for animals from a distance along a track.
Several departure options exist. The price is either a flat rate for a group or per person, depending on the package you choose: this is shown when you choose, together with the departure point (Petite Côte or Dakar).
What is included, and what you pay on site
Included: return transport and the guide. Drinks are at your own expense. The park entrance is payable on site, on top of the price, with an adult rate, a child rate and a car rental inside the grounds, all shown in the dedicated section of the listing. If you choose the all-inclusive package, the entrance is already included in the price paid on the site, and there is nothing to add on site for that item.
The entrance fee has a specific rate for children.
Bandia and the Petite Côte
Bandia is about fifteen kilometres from Saly and roughly 65 km from Dakar, on the Petite Côte, the stretch of coast that runs from Bargny to Joal-Fadiouth and mixes beaches, lagoons and fishing villages. If you live in Dakar, it is a weekend idea that gets you out of the capital without spending several days away; if you are staying in Saly or Ngaparou, it is a day that makes a change from the beaches. The Bandia page brings together all the activities on offer there.
Extending the outing around Bandia
The same area lets you round off the day or plan another one. The neighbouring reserve is presented on our Bandia Reserve page, the Somone lagoon is best explored by pirogue (a traditional wooden boat), the Popenguine reserve offers cliffs and birds, and Joal-Fadiouth adds a cultural day. Other safaris exist across the country if you want to compare experiences.
