A baobab tour at Ngaparou can fit into an hour or a half day: the spider baobab alone, the spider baobab and the sacred baobab, the baobab forest and a Fulani village, or Guéréo beach and the lagoon. The options are chosen as single-seater or two-seater.
A menu to choose from
Eight options, which come down to four outings. The visit to the spider baobab exists as 1 hour or 2 hours. The 3-hour option adds the sacred baobab. A last 1-hour route goes through the baobab forest and a Fulani village, or through the baobab forest, Guéréo beach and the lagoon. In each case, the option is taken as single-seater or two-seater, and the price is per unit, that is per machine: with two of you, you therefore share the price of one.
Choosing your length
One hour is enough to see the spider baobab without blocking out the day; two hours leave time to look at it and linger; three hours add the sacred baobab and turn the outing into a real half day. The one-hour route through the baobab forest, to the Fulani village or Guéréo beach, suits those who prefer varied landscapes to piling up trees.
The baobabs of the Petite Côte
Ngaparou is south of Saly and the Somone, on a Petite Côte that has stayed close to its fishermen and its village festivals, in the shade of baobabs or at the top of the cliffs. Visiting the trees gives this region its most recognisable motif. If you live in Senegal, a short one-hour outing that fits into the late afternoon without blocking out the day, or a longer three-hour one for those who want to see both trees and take their time; if you are visiting the coast, a half day that complements the beach. The Thiès region gathers the offers for the area.
To extend your trip
Quad and buggy offer comparable outings, outdoor adventure gathers other field activities, and the Somone lagoon is the area’s great stretch of water.
