Mlomp and Pointe Saint-Georges by 4×4 is a day on the tracks of Casamance, with a nature guide, for a group of 1 to 9 people. Entry fees, cold water and cashew nuts are included; only meals are at your own expense.
A day on the tracks between villages and mangroves
The excursion is made in a 4×4 vehicle, with a nature guide, along bush tracks that link traditional villages, rice paddies, forests, bolongs (tidal creeks) and mangroves. Stops are planned for photos, a village visit, a chat with local people or a viewpoint. The names that mark out the route, Mlomp and Pointe Saint-Georges, give it its thread.
The option is a full day, priced per group, for 1 to 9 people. The nature guide, entry fees, cold water and cashew nuts are included; meals are not. A 4×4 and pirogue option is also possible, boarding at the landing stage by the Katakalousse bridge to reach Éloubaline.
The starting point depends on the route chosen: Cap Skirring, Oussouye, Mlomp or Ziguinchor, confirmed when you book. Some tracks are difficult in the rainy season: the route adapts to the conditions on the day, at the guide’s or driver’s decision. Bring comfortable clothing, closed shoes, a hat, sun cream and extra water.
The route suits families: the vehicle makes the outing more comfortable than a walk. If you live in the south, it is a day to rediscover your surroundings, off the usual roads. If you are visiting, it is an excursion you can set up from Cap Skirring, Oussouye or Ziguinchor.
Green, slow Casamance
Casamance stretches between The Gambia to the north and Guinea-Bissau to the south: another Senegal, green, humid, woven from rice paddies, gallery forests and bolongs winding between the mangroves. Depending on the departure chosen, you join the route from Cap Skirring, Oussouye or Ziguinchor.
Extending the outing
As a complement, a pirogue trip or guided cultural visits help you understand the region in another way. Other 4×4 excursions and guided hikes are also available in Casamance, as is Carabane Island.
