The motorboat trip in Dakar is done by speedboat, leaving from the Plateau port, for 2 or 3 hours along the city’s emblematic coasts. Crew, welcome cocktail, nibbles platter and a musical atmosphere are included, as a couple package or for a group of 6 to 8 people.
The Dakar coastline aboard a speedboat
The outing follows a precise outline. A welcome from the crew at the Plateau port, a safety briefing, then departure along the coast: the cliffs of the western Corniche, the Mamelles lighthouse, Soumbedioune Bay, the Mosque of the Divinity and, depending on sailing conditions, the waters around Gorée Island. The captain adapts the route and the pace to the weather, and stops may be planned for swimming, taking photos or admiring the panorama.
The speedboat is private for a couple; a package for a group of 6 to 8 people also exists. The price is per person and depends on the length and the make-up of the party: a 2-hour sea ride or a 3-hour cruise, for a couple or for a group of 6 to 8 people.
What is included
The captain and crew, a welcome cocktail, a nibbles platter with soft drinks and water, a musical atmosphere, friendly games and swimming accessories (floats, goggles) are included. A dedicated waitress serves during the outing. Departures take place in the morning and in the afternoon. Bring a hat, sunglasses and sun cream.
Dakar from the sea
Seen from the sea, Dakar shows a different profile: the Corniche cliffs, the Mamelles, Soumbedioune Bay. If you live here, the package makes an outing for two or with friends that makes a change from restaurants and beaches; if you are visiting, it is a way to take in the city at a glance, without driving across it. The Mamelles lighthouse and the Mosque of the Divinity can be recognised from the water, and Gorée Island may appear offshore depending on conditions.
Extending the outing
The outing stays at sea: it does not land at Gorée, but you can combine it with a visit to the island afterwards. To go further, the island excursions let you go there by boat, the cruises and boat hire offer other packages, and sport fishing at sea offers another way to be on the water.
