The transfer from Saint-Louis is a private ride with a driver to Dakar, the Petite Côte, Lake Retba (the Pink Lake) or the Lompoul desert, at the time of your choice. The driver and the vehicle are included, the price is per vehicle for 1 to 4 people, one-way or return, with a journey of about 4 hours to Dakar and about 1 h 30 to Lompoul.
Four destinations from Saint-Louis
Six options exist: Dakar, the Petite Côte, the Pink Lake, the Lompoul desert, and two premium variants for Dakar, the luxury saloon and the premium van. The journeys to Dakar, the Petite Côte and the Pink Lake are given as about 4 hours, and the journey to Lompoul as about 1 h 30. These are indicative durations, which vary with traffic and stops.
The principle is the same for all of them: a direct journey, at the time of your choice, in a private vehicle with a driver.
If you live in the North, it is a way to reach the capital or the coast without driving four hours, and to arrange a weekend return without public transport. If you are visiting, it is how you leave Saint-Louis directly for Lompoul for a night in the dunes, or for the Pink Lake.
Saint-Louis, the starting point
Saint-Louis is a former colonial capital, at the mouth of the Senegal River, facing the Atlantic, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic island and its architecture. It lies in the far north-west of the country, very close to the Mauritanian border, and is organised around Ndar Island, the Langue de Barbarie on the ocean side and Sor on the riverbank. The Saint-Louis region extends the scenery. Pick-up is in Saint-Louis.
The arrival destinations
The Lompoul desert and its dunes are reached in about 1 h 30 by road; the Lompoul Desert page describes the site. The Pink Lake is known for its waters with pink reflections, and the page on Lake Retba tells its story. The Petite Côte unrolls its coastline south of the capital, and Dakar is the busiest end point.
Before leaving Saint-Louis
Before hitting the road, you can visit Djoudj National Park and its birdlife, or the Langue de Barbarie park. A pirogue trip or a guided cultural visit of the island extend your stay, and transfers from Saint-Louis airport complete the offer for your arrival.
