The airport transfer in Cap Skirring or Ziguinchor is a private ride to your hotel or village camp in Casamance. There are three journeys: from Cap Skirring airport to a hotel in the resort (about 15 minutes), to a village camp (about 1 hour), or from Ziguinchor airport to a hotel (about 1 h 30).
Three journeys, three durations
Three options exist: from Cap Skirring airport to a hotel in Cap Skirring, about fifteen minutes; from Cap Skirring airport to a village camp, about an hour; and from Ziguinchor airport to a hotel, about an hour and a half. The transfer is private: a vehicle waits for you on arrival, with no sharing with other travellers. All three journeys start at an airport and end at the door of your lodging: a hotel in the Cap Skirring resort, a village camp in the region, or a hotel in Ziguinchor, the regional capital.
If you live in Senegal and are returning to Casamance, or if you are a visitor discovering the region, the private transfer settles the question of arrival: you land, you find a driver, you reach your lodging without haggling. The journey time varies with the destination, so choose accordingly.
Cap Skirring, Ziguinchor, the two gateways to Casamance
Cap Skirring is the beach resort of Casamance, in the south-west of the country, known for its white sand beaches, its coconut palms and its warm sea, but the region is worth more than its beach. Ziguinchor is its regional capital, tucked beneath The Gambia, closer to Bissau than to Dakar, reached after a night on the boat or forty-five minutes by plane. Between The Gambia to the north and Guinea-Bissau to the south, Casamance is another Senegal: green, humid, unhurried, woven from rice paddies, gallery forests and bolongs.
Extending your stay in Casamance
Once settled in, you can head to Carabane Island, set off on a pirogue trip on the bolongs, or try sea fishing. Other intercity transfers and car hire with driver are available to continue your trip.
