Éloubaline by 4×4 and pirogue is a half-day that combines track and water: you cross the bush and villages by vehicle, then sail along the bolongs and mangrove of Casamance. Two options, one with flexible length, and a group price from two people.
A half-day, two means of transport
The route begins with a 4×4 stretch, on bush tracks and through villages, then continues by pirogue, among bolongs (tidal creeks) and mangrove: the link between land and water is what makes the outing. Boarding is at the landing stage by the Katakalousse bridge. The destination, Éloubaline, is a Casamance village nestled in the heart of the bolongs.
Two options are offered, both per group: a half-day, and an option of flexible length, which lets you adjust the time to suit you. The trip is open from two people, with a price that decreases with group size; beyond twelve people, you need to consult the team.
Some tracks are harder to reach in the rain; the route can then be adapted. The outing can suit families with children. Comfortable clothing, closed shoes, a hat, water and sun cream are recommended.
If you live in Casamance, it is an outing that is easy to improvise at a weekend. If you are visiting Cap Skirring or Oussouye, it is a half-day of nature that makes a change from the beach.
Éloubaline and Casamance
Éloubaline is a place in Casamance, a green, humid region between The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau, woven from rice paddies, gallery forests and bolongs. Bolongs are those arms of water that wind between the mangroves: you travel them more easily by pirogue than by vehicle, hence the 4×4 and pirogue option.
Extending your time
To stay on the water, pirogue trips and birdwatching offer other outings, and other 4×4 excursions explore other areas. Island excursions round out a week in Casamance.
